Another election year...

I understand that democracy requires periodic elections and participation by the electorate, but the anger that these events engender almost renders them not worthwhile.  My experience with presidential elections seems to be that it is a choice between the lesser of two evils, more of a case of voting against someone rather than voting for someone.  It is very distressing because no one believes in the person running for president.  I'm tired of not believing in the candidate or the policies of an administration.  I've voted in presidential elections since Reagan and I've never felt like I could wholehearted believe in any of the candidates.  Sigh.

My first blog....

Well, now what? I'm relatively computer literate, but I'm not that big a fan of communicating via computer. I rarely use messenger services. I abhor chat rooms. I use e-mail as if I were writing a letter in long hand, no abbreviations or shortcuts. I find the telephone to be a necessary evil, but I won't talk on the cell phone while I'm operating a motor vehicle. I adore caller id, since I can avoid talking to people I don't like or that I don't want to talk to at that particular moment. I'm thinking that blogging is more like carrying on a conversation with myself, an externalization of the thoughts that cross my mind as they occur, with some editing. Hmmm, we'll have to see if I learn to like this or not.
